UNDERSTANDING THE OPTION
How a Consumer Proposal Works
A Consumer Proposal is a legally binding agreement between you and your creditors that allows you to settle your unsecured debt for less than the full amount you owe.
The program is administered by a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT), who negotiates with your creditors and manages the repayment plan. Instead of paying multiple creditors separately, you make one fixed monthly payment over an agreed period of time.
In many cases, this option allows individuals to resolve their debt while avoiding bankruptcy.
